Repairing Ignition Switch
The switch has two parts: one is the key lock, the other is the electrical switch.
They can be separated:
- Pull out the whole ignition switch
- Turn the key halfway between off and on then simultaneously press in all three tangs at the bottom and pull the electric part of the switch from the key lock
- Be careful not to loose the springs and small parts
- Check for wear on the contacts. If not too bad, clean, repair and reassemble
- If the contacts have severe divots, replacement is recommended
